Place stones, capture by liberty, and score by Chinese area rules. Pass twice to mark dead groups, then accept.

Go is the art of surrounding. On My MP Games the default board is 9×9 so a full game fits a lunch break; 13×13 and 19×19 are one click away in the variant picker. You place a stone on an intersection. A group lives while it has a liberty. Fill the last liberty of an enemy group and those stones come off the board. Suicide is illegal unless the play captures. Positional superko forbids repeating a previous board, which covers the simple ko without extra house rules. Two consecutive passes end the fight and open a dead-stone marking phase. Tap a group to toggle it dead; both sides accept (vs Computer estimates conservatively so a seki is not auto-killed). Scoring is Chinese area: live stones plus surrounded empty points, plus komi (7.5 by default, 6.5 if you want the older number). Optional handicap stones sit on hoshi. Captured counts and a last-move marker keep the game readable. The AI is MCTS in a worker — Beginner plays quickly with heuristics; Hard spends a real thinking budget. Related strategy games on this site include Chess for piece tactics and Checkers for forced captures. Play online with a room code, Local vs on one device, or vs Computer. Hoshi dots mark the star points. Coordinates skip the letter I, the way printed diagrams do. After two passes you can still argue about a group by tapping it; the estimator would rather leave a seki alive than gift you the points. The board itself is a square grid of points so stones stay round on desktop and on a 390-wide phone. No download, no account — just stones, liberties, and komi.
