Sketch Pehchan is a free way to draw and guess online with your friends. One player gets a secret word and sketches it on a shared canvas. Everyone else races to type the answer in the chat, and the quicker you guess, the more points you get. It runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers. There is nothing to download and you don't need to sign up. A room holds 2 to 8 players, and you can also play on one phone or against the computer.

Play draw and guess online

Each game is a few rounds long, and every player draws once per round. The host picks the number of rounds (1–5), the draw time (45 to 120 seconds) and the word pack before the game starts. Then press Ready and the first sketch begins.

Draw and guess with friends: private rooms with a link

Press Create room and share the invite link or the room code. Anyone who opens the link asks to join, and you approve each friend into a seat, so strangers can't walk in. If someone's connection drops, they can tap Continue your game to get back to their seat with their score.

Play on one phone: Local vs

No second device? Press Local vs, type the names of 2 to 8 players and pass one phone or tablet around. Before each turn a Hand the device to … screen hides the word. The drawer picks a word in private and taps Pass to guessers. Then the drawer sketches while everyone shouts guesses, and taps the name of each player who says it. Press and hold Peek if you forget the word.

Play vs Computer

Playing solo? Press Play vs Computer and the computer draws. It sketches each word stroke by stroke from its own hand-made drawings, and you type your guesses with the same timer, hints and scoring. There are three drawings per round. If you can't get one, tap Pass; the computer scores 150 points for every drawing you miss.

Public rooms

A room is public unless the host switches it to private. Public rooms show up in the live rooms list, where other players can watch or ask the host for a seat before the game starts. There is no random matchmaking, so every game is one you set up.

How to play

  1. Pick a word. When it's your turn to draw, you get three words and 15 seconds to choose. Nobody else sees them. If you don't choose in time, a word is picked for you.
  2. Draw it. Sketch the word before the timer runs out. No letters or numbers: that spoils it.
  3. Guess in the chat. Everyone else types guesses. Wrong guesses are free and show up for everybody. A correct guess is hidden from the players still guessing. If you are one letter off, only you get a “close!” nudge.
  4. Hints. The blanks at the top show how many letters the word has. Up to three letters are revealed as the time runs down.
  5. Scoring. A correct guess is worth 50 to 300 points, and earlier guesses score more. The drawer gets 50 points for each player who guesses the word. The turn ends early once everyone has guessed it.

When every round is over, the player with the most points wins.

Draw and guess game words

There are four word packs. Easy has everyday things like a cat, a house or the sun. Medium has harder objects and actions, and Hard is for confident artists. The Everyday pack has things from home, school and the street, like a kettle, a school bag or a traffic cone. Every word is plain English, so anyone can play. The default Mixed pack blends Easy, Medium and Everyday. The host can also paste their own custom words (at least three, separated by commas or new lines). Normally one of the three choices comes from your list; tick “custom words only” to use nothing else. Other players can't read the custom list, so it stays a surprise.

Teams 2 v 2

With exactly four players, the host can turn on Teams in the room options and pick the pairs (Red v Blue). On each turn one player draws and only their teammate can guess. The other team watches and can't guess or chat until the turn ends. Then the other team plays. The drawer rotates, so both teammates draw. Every point a player scores counts for their team, and the team with more points wins.

Drawing tools

The drawer gets 14 colours, four brush sizes, an eraser, a fill bucket for colouring in shapes, Undo and Clear. Draw with a mouse, a stylus, or your finger on a phone. The canvas is the same shape on every screen, so everyone sees exactly what you drew, live, stroke by stroke.

A free alternative to skribbl.io and Pictionary online

If you are looking for games like skribbl, or for Pictionary online with friends, Sketch Pehchan uses the same draw-and-guess idea. It has private rooms where the host approves who joins, a Teams 2 v 2 mode for four players, custom words, and a layout that works well on a phone. It is an original game. Sketch Pehchan is not affiliated with or endorsed by skribbl.io, or by Mattel, which owns the Pictionary trademark.

Tips for drawing and guessing

  • Drawing: start with the big outline, then add one detail that gives it away. Arrows help you point at the part that matters. If the word is a phrase, draw each half.
  • Guessing: guess early and often, because wrong answers cost nothing. Watch the letter count and the hints. Try related words: if “boat” is wrong, try “ship”.

How do I join a private room?

Open the link your friend shares, or enter the room code, and ask to join. The host approves you into a seat.

Can 2 players play?

Yes, a room works with 2 to 8 players, though 3 or more players is more fun. You can also play solo against the computer, which draws and lets you guess.

Can I use custom words?

Yes. The host can paste a custom word list (at least 3 words) in the room rules, and can choose to use only those words.

What words are in the game?

All words are in plain English so everyone can play. There are Easy, Medium and Hard packs, plus an Everyday pack with words like kettle, umbrella and school bag. The default Mixed pack blends Easy, Medium and Everyday words. In vs Computer, every word comes with its own drawing.

Can we play in teams?

Yes. With exactly 4 players, turn on Teams 2 v 2 in the room options. On each turn one player draws, only their teammate guesses, and the other team watches. Teams take turns and both teammates draw. The team with more points wins.

It is the same draw-and-guess idea in an original game, not affiliated with skribbl.io or Mattel's Pictionary.

Does it work on mobile?

How is scoring done?

Faster guesses score more, from 300 points down to 50, and the drawer gets 50 points for each player who guesses the word.
