02 // STEPS

Step by step

  1. 01

    Seat four

Hearts always uses four seats. Seats not taken by people are played by the computer.

  2. 02

    Pass three cards

Each round you pass three cards left, then right, then across, then hold (no pass), and the cycle repeats.

  3. 03

    Two of clubs leads

Whoever holds the 2♣ leads the first trick. On the first trick you cannot play a heart or the Q♠ unless you have nothing else.

  4. 04

    Follow suit

You must follow the suit that was led if you can. The highest card of that suit wins the trick, and the winner leads next.

  5. 05

    Breaking hearts

Hearts cannot be led until a heart has been played on an earlier trick, unless your hand is all hearts.

  6. 06

    Score and shoot the moon

Each heart is worth 1 point and the Q♠ is worth 13. If one player takes all 26 points, they score 0 and every other player gets 26. The game ends when someone reaches 100.
