Deal
Two players get 7 cards each; with three or more players everyone gets 5. One card is turned face up to start the discard pile.
- 02
Match suit or rank
On your turn, play one card that matches the top card’s suit or rank, for example 7♥ on 7♠ or K♥ on 4♥.
- 03
Eights are wild
An 8 can be played on anything. You then name the suit the next player must follow.
- 04
Draw one
If you cannot or will not play, draw one card. Play it if it fits, otherwise pass.
- 05
Score the round
Going out scores the cards left in opponents’ hands: 8 = 50, K/Q/J = 10, A = 1, other cards at face value. First to 100 wins.

Pro tips
- Save your 8s. They get you out of trouble and are worth 50 against you if you are caught holding one.
- Change to the suit you are long in, not the one you happen to like.
- Watch the hand counts. When someone gets down to one or two cards, dump your high cards.
