GUIDE #296
How to Play Snooker Online
Snooker on a real top-down table: six pockets, 22 balls in a full rack, and a cue ball you can spin. Choose Full frame (10 reds), 6 Ball, Race to 50 or Race to 100 in the room options.
01 // CONTROLS
Controls
- Aim: drag anywhere on the table — the cue points at your finger; a guide line and ghost ball show the contact and the object-ball path
- Fine-tune: slide the fine-aim dial or tap ⟲ ⟳ (or ← / →, Shift for bigger steps) for a tenth of a degree
- Spin: tap a point on the small cue ball — high for follow, low for screw (backspin), left / right for side
- Guide lines: pick On or Off in the game options before the game (on by default) to show or hide the ghost ball, the object-ball path and the cue-ball line; online the host sets it for everyone and it is locked once play starts
- Strike: grab the cue (or the cue ball) and pull it back — the further you pull, the harder the shot — then let go. Slide back to zero to cancel. On a phone you can also pull the cue in the side slider. Ball in hand: drag the cue ball inside the D
02 // STEPS
Step by step
- 01
Pick a game
Full frame racks 10 reds; 6 Ball racks six. Race to 50 / 100 use one red and the colours.
- 02
Break from the D
The cue ball starts in hand in the D. A soft thin contact on the end red leaves the cue ball safe at the baulk end.
- 03
Red, then a colour
Pot a red (1) and you may pot any colour; it is re-spotted while reds remain. Then a red again.
- 04
Clear the colours
After the last red and its colour, pot yellow, green, brown, blue, pink, black in order.
- 05
Avoid fouls
Wrong ball first, missing everything, potting the wrong ball or going in-off gives your opponent at least 4. In-off means ball in hand in the D; a snooker after a foul gives a free ball.
- 06
Races
Race to 50 / 100: every ball is on. Red scores 10, colours their value, all re-spotted. Hit the red and pot nothing: −10. Hit a colour and pot nothing: no penalty. A foul (miss everything, in-off) costs you 4, or the highest ball involved up to 7 for the black. The turn passes after any miss or foul. First to the target wins.

Pro tips
- Stun (centre ball) stops the cue ball dead on a straight pot; screw brings it back.
- Side spin widens or narrows the angle off a cushion — useful for position, risky for the pot.
- Thin cuts need more care than power: watch the ghost ball, not the object ball.
04 // FAQ
Snooker FAQ
Is online snooker fair?
Yes. Every shot is simulated on the server with deterministic physics; every screen replays the same numbers, so players and spectators see the identical result.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. The table turns to fit portrait and landscape without scrolling, and the spin, fine-tune and power controls are thumb-sized.
Is Snooker free to play in the browser?
Yes. Snooker on My MP Games is free HTML5 — no download, no account, and no paywall.
Can I play Snooker vs the computer?
Open the play page and choose Play vs Computer. You can also play Local vs on one device or share a room code with a friend.
