Both players flip a card each round, the higher card takes the point, and the first to 7 points wins. There is nothing to learn and nothing to install. Invite a friend with a room code, share one screen, or flip against the computer. It is free, it works on desktop, tablet and mobile, and there is no download, no app and no sign-up.
How to Play the War Card Game Online

War Card Game Rules
Card ranks
Cards are ranked from 1 (low) to 13 (high), just like ace-low through king in a standard deck. Each flip is drawn at random.
Ties
If both cards are equal the round is a draw and nobody scores. Just flip again. There is no “I declare war” pile here, which keeps every match short.
Winning
The first player to 7 points wins. A full match usually takes a minute or two.

Is There Any Strategy in War?
No, and that is the point. War is pure chance, so a beginner can beat anyone. Every flip is independent, so a run of low cards says nothing about the next one, and a 0–6 match can still be won. Use it as a fast tie-breaker between friends, a game to play with young children who are learning numbers, or a warm-up before a longer card game like Hearts or Texas Hold'em.
History and Variants of War
War is one of the oldest and simplest children's card games, played with a standard deck split between two players. In the traditional game, tied cards start a “war”: each player lays cards face down and flips another, and the winner takes the whole pile. Similar games include Beggar My Neighbour and Egyptian Ratscrew. For an even shorter match, try the Quick War variant on this page, which plays to 4 points with cards from 1 to 10.
