GUIDE #294
How to Play Rummy Online
Classic Rummy for 2–4 players. Draw, form sets and runs, lay off on any meld, then discard. The first player to go out scores the deadwood left in everyone else’s hands, and the first to 100 points wins.
01 // CONTROLS
Controls

02 // STEPS
Step by step
- 01
Deal
Two players get 10 cards each; three or four players get 7. The rest form the stock, and one card starts the discard pile.
- 02
Draw
Start each turn by taking the top card of the stock or the top card of the discard pile.
- 03
Meld
Put down sets (3–4 cards of the same rank) or runs (3+ cards of one suit in sequence). The ace is low (A-2-3), and Q-K-A also counts.
- 04
Lay off
Add cards to any meld on the table, yours or an opponent’s, to make it longer.
- 05
Discard
End your turn by discarding one card. You cannot discard the card you just took from the discard pile.
- 06
Go out and score
Get rid of every card (the last one may be melded or discarded) to win the round. You score the cards left in opponents’ hands: faces 10, ace 1, others at face value.

Pro tips
- Taking the discard tells everyone what you are collecting, so only do it when it completes a meld.
- Break up high pairs that are going nowhere. A king of deadwood costs you 10.
- Watch opponents’ discards to see which runs are dead.

Rummy FAQ
Is K-A-2 a run?
No. The ace is either low (A-2-3) or high after the king (Q-K-A), and runs do not wrap around.
Is Rummy free to play in the browser?
Yes. Rummy on My MP Games is free HTML5 — no download, no account, and no paywall.
Can I play Rummy vs the computer?
Open the play page and choose Play vs Computer. You can also play Local vs on one device or share a room code with a friend.
